Description

Length: This is a self-paced course, instructor-led course. Most faculty take about 3 weeks to complete it.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Canvas. Online teaching recommended.

The goal of this training program is to dramatically increase the use of authentic video/multimedia in online classes to enhance student engagement, collaboration, communication and interactivity. Unlike other video authoring software, Studio is easy to use, and is available for free in Canvas to all instructors. Studio makes it easy for non tech-savvy instructors to create interactive videos.

Video is a critical component for humanizing an online class. With Canvas Studio, instructors will learn to create videos that can hold students’ attention, clarify concepts and ensure that students are engaging with the video by embedding mini quizzes in the videos. With Studio, you will learn how to have students submit audio and video files to assignments and discussions. Instructors can track who is attending and viewing the videos. Studio is a communication and media tool that allows instructors (and students) to upload, create, edit, manage, share and discuss audio and video files. Instructors and students can collaborate through video and audio.

Satisfactory Completion

Faculty who complete this training program will earn a badge and a certificate of completion. Participants must finish all tasks with a grade of at least 75% to earn a badge and certificate, and a $250.00 stipend. Faculty may also claim 15 hours of flex.
