Description

Studies show that students are more invested in their online classes when they feel connected to, and supported by, their instructor and fellow students. While human and social presence aligns with equitable teaching strategies, humanizing goes beyond subject matter to inspire and motivate learning. In this class, you will develop effective practices to convey presence, empathy, awareness, and support for your online learners.

  • Examine the research connecting social presence and equity
  • Interview an online student and create a short video about your findings
  • Think back to what motivated you as a student, how make the difference for students of today
  • Experiment with fun, easy-to-use tools in a supportive environment
