I recorded a 6 minute video in Canvas Studio. I tried to upload and received an error message:  Failure to Upload:  Are you at a secure school or business?  I am using my macbook Air, OS 10.11.6.  Browser Chrome.  I tried to "google" an answer: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/How-to-Restart-Failed-Video-Upload-to-Studio/m-p/195516#M98070

The answer given didn't help.  What do you suggest?

Martha,

I googled this and found this thread that may be more helpful?

https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Studio-Users/Studio-Locating-Failed-Uploads/td-p/217556

Are you on a Mac? This seems to have worked for some: "After a lot of time with support, we've found found that this issues is linked to users on a particular version of El Capitan. The advice was to update to the most current version of El Capitan or a higher OS. "

Do you have a second computer with a different OS version to test the upload? It may help narrow down the issue to the video vs. the operating system. Does it happen with just that one video or with all your videos? Maybe Aaron has some other ideas. He is a Mac geek.

You might also want to contact Canvas support (see left help menu in Canvas - they have 24/7 Live Chat).

Thanks, Vivie.  Yes, I'm on a MacBook Air.  I have another computer I am going to try to troubleshoot.  I created another video and tried to upload.  Same problem.

I contacted Live Chat.  They thought it was a problem with my internet connection.  I was called them, and no, it's not.  So I'll try on another computer to see if I can isolate the problem.

I've been reading a bit about this and yes, it seems to be an OS issue.  I just tried a screen recording on my Macbook and it worked fine.  I'm still on Catalina.

Martha, what operating system are you on?  Edit:  Also, what browser and version are you using?

Aaron

I am using a MacBook Air. OS- El Capitan 10.11.6

Chrome version 89.0.4389.114

I called the Canvas Help Desk and they indicated that perhaps it was my Internet service provider.  They had me restart my Modem.  Problem not solved yet.  I called Xfinity Comcast and trouble-shooting with them.  My security settings are at "Minimum Security" so that's not the problem.

Any ideas?

I am going to upgrade from El Capitan to Mojave.  It says it will take 30-40 minutes.  Hopefully that solves my problem.

Eventually I’d consider upgrading to the latest OS unless you have software that won’t run on Big Sir.  El Capitan I think is several years old and even Mojave was released a few years ago. Keep us poste.

Being an internet problem doesn’t make sense.  I had a big problem with the record function in the Rich Text Editor and Speed Grader.   I ended up having to find an earlier version of Firefox to solve the problem.  Try a different browser and see if that works.  I’m assuming you restarted your computer and cleared your history/cache as a starting point.

Hello All,

I sincerely apologize for the very delayed response and hope the following information is helpful:

I am on a MacBook Pro (2015) running Big Sur 11.2.3. For Canvas, I almost exclusively use Chrome browser. In the last two weeks, I uploaded a video directly to Studio (using Chrome) with no problems.

That said, I never capture/record in Canvas Studio. So it makes me wonder is capture/record in Studio:

• A general OS issue; or

• An issue with older OS versions?

By the way: If I need to capture/record quickly and easily? I opt for Zoom.
