[Solved] Missing Student Assignment Submissions

A few of my assignments require students to record and add videos as a Reply to my initial post; they can use any of the record and post features of Canvas, including Studio.

I've had several students say they have recorded, posted, and even taken timestamped screenshots of the submissions, but from my perspective, as the professor, I don't see the submission/reply/video.  Of course, normally it's the student's word against Canvas', and I cannot allow too much leniency just because a student says, "But I know I turned it in."  On the other hand, a timestamped video is pretty compelling evidence that a student did, in fact, submit the assignment.

Am I missing something, or is there another way to prove whether or not a student submits the assignment?  Essentially, I have to take Canvas' word for whether or not a student submits and assignment.

Are these discussions or assignments?  If it's an assignment, I've missed them when they use the media record function.  It's a little link in the upper left-hand corner that says, "Click here to view."  I gave a couple of students a zero because I just missed it.

Could you give us a little more details about the assignment and perhaps we can figure it out.

Edit:  Here is a screenshot that shows a link to view recordings.

I have these set up as part of a discussion.  I post the initial discussion, which is, essentially, the assignment prompt, and the students post replies and insert videos.  That way, the other students can also view and post replies to their fellow students' videos.

@Thomas Reeves - It sounds like you are doing everything correctly.  I've done tons discussions and assignments like this.  Is it just a few students or is it widespread?

I'd be curious to see a screenshot from one of your students that allegedly proves they recorded something.

Thanks for the input, Aaron.  Interestingly, the student let me know he is having the same trouble in another class, and that teacher told him it is an issue with Safari browsers, which the student is using.

That could definitely be the problem.  I never use Safari anymore and I'm a Mac person.  Tell him to use Firefox or Chrome.  Firefox for me seems to be the most stable.
