How can I get a scanned pdf converted to an OCR pdf? Obviously, I am working from home and use my own computers. I searched online for free OCR software, well that was almost laughable as there were absolutely none.

Yesterday, a colleague mentioned faculty can get Adobe Pro or Adobe Cloud free or cheaper.

Yeah, the free OCR apps are not that good or accurate.  We do get the Adobe Cloud for free.  I think IT should be able to help you.

I was able to open scanned Word doc in Acrobat and then save it as a PDF.  Then I opened it in Word and bingo!! I had the text perfectly in Word.

I will say my image was a super clean screenshot on my iMac so your mileage may vary, but it's possible using what we have.  I'm off for a bit, but I need to play around a bit more.  Looks promising - maybe!!

Awesome! Thanks. My iphone scanned text pages are pretty sad. I'll try better scans with my printer and then use the online2pdf site.

Best,

@Angie Vana. I was curious how well it worked with a page scanned from a book.  The accuracy for me was amazing.  The margins were funky, but I just selected all of the text and cleared the formatting.  There were a few errors.  Pretty cool!

One more way as mentioned in my previous post.  I'm assuming this is possible on a Windows machine.  This turns out to be pretty easy and there are a couple of ways to do it.  It's not perfect, but my experience was positive.
